Review of the Apple  iPHONE

When Apple announced the launch of its next generation mobile phone, many enthusiasts hoped the phone meets up to the hype preceding its release. The iPhone has now been available to users since June 2007; Users have gotten their chance to get the phone predicted to set the pace for all for future phones to follow.

We recommend waiting until the next version/updates to the iPhone were released before getting one. The iPhone is a wonderful product but we know better when phones in its class are released.  Buyers within 5 days of the Nokia e6i release found out that phone was plagued with bugs and the Os seemed unstable.

Apple released an updated version for the iPhone in its 16GB version. For the past few weeks, the 16GB iPhone has survived the tedious usage users put it through.  The phone looks stylish and since we believe Apple has resolved many bugs the earlier iPhone had.

Some critics say this phone hasn’t lived up to its expectations but we strongly disagree.  The iPhone ranks amongst the best in terms of design and usability.

Design

The iPhone has a sleek design that makes eyes peak over your shoulder just to get a glimpse. It’s shaped just like the iPod touch and is thinner than the Motorola Razor. The iPhone has a Height of 4.5 inches (115 mm), a Width of 2.4 inches (61 mm), 0.46 inch (11.6 mm) deep and weighs 4.8 ounces (135 grams).

The 3.5 inch glass screen is scratch proof and touch sensitive. Smudges and fingerprints left on the phone do little to affect the screens visibility.

Usage

The iPhone has no stylus or keypad so all navigation on this phone is carried through the fingers. The iPhone comes with an on-screen keyboard that is so effective. The phones predictive text feature works well enough and is very accurate. Menus on the iPhone are easy to navigate and thankfully most of phone necessary features are either on the menu or a few taps on the main menu.

The iPhone comes with Apple’s Safari web browser and the browser works much better than most other mobile browsers. It displays websites like a standard PC-based web browser with the ability to zoom in by double-tapping on the screen. The iPhone also allows you watch YouTube videos while browsing but this feature does not work with videos on other sites. The iPhone comes with an iPod program that allows you play both music and video. Music played with the iPhone sounds average and is much better when you the headset is plugged in. Video playback is clear as the phone takes advantage of its 3.5inch wide 16M screen. While watching a video or browsing a website, you just need to turn the phone side-ways to automatically enable the full-screen mode. This feature is carried out by the accelerometer sensors that come in-built with the phone. Also a proximity sensor automatically turns off the screen while receiving calls.

One smart move by Apple was to include a button much resembling the end call button on other phones. Just in case the phone becomes unresponsive or you just need to get back to the main menu, pressing this button takes you there. The iPhone is an easy to use mobile phone. Its touch sensitivity is taken to a completely new level as you can pinch, flick and tap at the screen to produce different results.
