TIPS TO GET THE TECHNICAL JOB
by Nothmar Noriel |
 |
Here are some tips for getting more technical consulting job based on my
experience in the technology industry.
Work on your resume
Make sure you send a resume that highlights your experience in
relation to the position you are applying for. A key is to make sure
you include key words/buzz words that recruiters are looking for.
Creating a client focused resume will give you better results and get
you more interviews. Make sure you are able to explain every aspect
of your resume and also understand the job description for the job
you are interviewing for
Keep up-to date with technologies
Try to be up-to date with the latest technologies. Most of my previous
clients seems to give us contract or permanent jobs and seem to be
looking for experience in the latest technologies (SAP, Crystal
Reports Xi, BO Xir2, etc)
Get Certified.
I highly recommend getting an industry recognized certification. Some
popular ones include the PMP, J2EE, MCSD, BOXiR2, CCIE, etc. From my
experience certified people seem to interview better and have a higher
rate of passing the technical interview. Certified people sometimes
command a higher rate
Practice interviewing.
I have had hundreds of client's interview throughout the years and
candidates make so many mistakes that made them lose the job.
Interviews should focus on talking only about the position and their
related experiences. The important thing is that you have to sell your
past experiences and accomplishments and talk about how you helped the
company complete a project that resulted in major profits for the
previous company.
